30 June 2010: Burmese military junta leaders have ordered village block clerks to be alert and stay full time in their respective villages in Chin state, Western Burma.

"Those responsible for polling booths have been called for training so they were ordered not to travel. We don't know why. May be because the election is near," a clerk said.

"We have been ordered not to go out of the village and we are hoping for another order where responsibility will be given to us,” he told Khonumthung News Group.

From June 18 to 19 training was imparted by the authorities such as how to cast a vote, how to account for a vote and what is a rejected vote among others in Tuibual village, Falam township.

The order says no one can travel for personal reasons. Clerks have to work in their respective areas.

Falam, Hakha, Thantlang, Tedim, Tonzang Northern Chin state are being monitored by Gen. Hungngai for the forthcoming election as of early 2009. They had a meeting on May 15 in Rih new town, Falam district. At the meeting they were ordered to look out for internal and external saboteurs and to cooperate with the Army.

The military is rebuilding a bridge, constructing roads and donating to Christian churches in Hakha township, capital of Chin State to mobilize support for the election.

But till date he has not fulfilled his promises to recommend to the government for help for victims of the storm on April 27 in the Indo-Myanmar border new village of Rih.
