17 May 2010: The Union Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) is issuing cards to members of the Block Peace and Development Council (BPDC) and government employees and collecting forcibly Kyat 3000 per card in the bargain. This is being done at the behest of the Chairman of the Town Peace and Development Council (TPDC) in Chin state, Matupi Township.

“Mr. Ohn Lwin, Chairman of the TPDC is forcibly collecting money by issuing cards to members of BPDC and government employees,” said a local in Matupi town.

“A person with the card needs to vote for the USDP candidates in the forthcoming 2010 elections. If he fails to do so, the authorities will initiate action against him,” said a teacher who is visited the border area.

Besides, junta authorities and pro-junta officials are campaigning and wooing people to vote for the USDP party in the polls.

“Yes, TPDC and USDP authorities are trying to woo people to vote for the USDA party,” said a member of the BPDC in Matupi.

In the same manner, authorities in other townships in Chin state are also trying to persuade people to vote for the USDP party in the forthcoming 2010 general election.
