22 April 2010: A cyclonic storm ravaged about 25 houses and a government primary school in Rihkhawdar sub-town on the Indo-Myanmar border trade area in Falam township in Chin state western Burma in the wee hours of April 20.

“Eight houses were completely devastated, while 20 houses suffered partial damage and can be repaired, for the roofs were blown off by strong gusts of wind. Two houses of primary teachers were also destroyed,” said a local.

Local people have begun reconstructing the houses destroyed by the cyclone, but there is no help or relief from the local government authorities.

Similarly, a cyclone on April 19 damaged 20 houses, a hospital, High School No. (2), (5), Primary school no. 2, the Art and Culture office and Village Council Court in Falam town, Chin state.
