Electricity is being supplied to only those consumers, who can pay their monthly bills and extra charges to the electricity department in Tedim township, upper Chin state western Burma. But the power supply is only three days for a particular time in a week for those who cannot pay the additional charge.

A local in Tedim town told Khonumthung News that if a person wants electricity regularly he has to pay at least 10,000 Kyat per month to the department as additional charge for the workers.

About hundred families who can pay their monthly bills and an additional 10,000 Kyat can have electricity everyday in Tidim town. However, those who cannot pay the additional amount will not get electricity regularly. They will get it thrice in a week.

“We get electricity from 7 pm to 8 pm about two or three days in a week. But a person who can pay 10,000 Kyat per month to the officers can have electricity day and night everyday,” said a local in Tedim town.
