The Burmese military junta authorities in Kalemyo have put the police department, fire department, power department and the United Solidarity and Development Association (USDA) on high alert following the law suit on Aung San Suu Kyi.

"Security has been heightened to prevent the anger of the people spilling over into protests in connection with Suu Kyi's trial," said a member of Kalemyo USDA. The security people are ready to put down any form of demonstration.

"Traffic policemen and USDA members are patrolling every road junction. They are checking all travellers and strangers. It is very frustrating for the local people," said a local.

The leader of the National League for Democracy, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi is being accused by the military government of accepting an uninvited American at her house where she was under detention. The authorities therefore beefed up security in the whole country to prevent any uprising.

The Nobel Laureate Suu Kyi faces imprisonment just before the end of her house arrest period on 27 May 2009. However, most political analysts believe that it is a ploy by the junta in order to detain her till after the forthcoming 2010 general elections.

"It is a frame up planned by the authorities. Entering her house is not an easy task as soldiers are guarding it from every corner," said an elder politician.
