Chin National Front (CNF) leaders took part in a public consultation workshop in Chin state in preparation for a public meeting scheduled to take place in a few days.

CNF leaders, Pu Lian Uk; Chairman, Dr. Za Hlei Thang; former Chairman, Pu Zing Cung; General Secretary, and other leaders and military officers - a total of 30 individuals - participated in the workshop.

“It’s a kind of training for the trainers,” said CNF News & Information Secretary Pu Ngaih Chia Thang said about the workshop that started on April 9 and concluded yesterday. The agenda followed state politics and nationality.

Chairman Pu Zing Cung pointed out that the purpose of conducting public consultations was to bring the civilian population into the fold, allowing them to directly participate in the reforms that are currently underway. It’s also an opportunity to inform about the peace talks between the CNF and the Myanmar government. CNF signed a ceasefire on Jan. 6, 2012; a move that the organization expect will eventually restore democracy and establish equality in the state.

The upcoming public consultation will take place in 3 sub-townships and 9 townships.
