Burma’s democracy icon Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will deliver the Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial lecture in New Delhi, India. It’s expected that many Chin refugees who reside in India will attend the lecture that takes place tomorrow at 6 pm at Plenary Hall.

It’s the first time Suu Kyi has visited India in nearly four decades. The lady accepted the invitation to deliver the Nehru Memorial lecture after meeting the Indian Prime Minister when he visited Burma in May. Suu Kyi was also given the Jawaharlal Nehru award for international understanding back in 1992.

On Nov. 16, she plans to meet Burmese refugees at the Oxford University hall in Vikaspuri.

“We support democracy in Burma, so I want to meet Daw Aung Suu Kyi the icon of Burma’s democracy. I want to listen to her speech,” said a New Delhi based Chin Christian’s pastor.

San Suu Kyi will return to Rangoon on Nov.18.
