Request for Hluttaw Office Delayed by Chin State Authorities

Than Tlang Town, Chin State: An application to open an office in Than Tlang Town that will provide representation for all Hluttaw members in the township is still pending even though it was made in mid-October.

“We asked (again) for permission on Oct. 25 to open the office. But they haven’t responded,” said CNP member and State Hluttaw representative Pu Lal Muang Cung.

When the office is open, it will be used to host meetings for discussions on political issues  and development in the township. A copy of the application was also sent to the chief minister of Chin State and State Hluttaw Chairman.

Four Hluttaw representatives from different constituencies of Than Tlang Township won the 2010 Burmese general election. The representatives are; Pi Za Tlem, State Hluttaw and CNP member, Paul Than Thai, Amyotha Hluttaw, Pu Lal Muang Cung, State Hluttaw and Pu Roben, State Hluttaw.

The Chin Progressive party (CPP) won 11 seats, CNP got 9 seats, and the Ethnic Nationalities Development Party (ENDP) won one in the elections.
