Paletwa residents will submit a petition letter to President Thein Sein demanding adequate electricity.
Three of the six blocks in Paletwa in Chin State receive power for only 1.5 hours per-day. The fluctuating power supply is making life hard for everyone involved .
A Electric Improvement Committee of Paletwa leader said when they complained about power shortages last year some of their demands were met.
“We asked local authorities for an increase in the hours of available power supply last year and over the last six months they granted some of our demands. So now we are asking President Thein Sein for electricity supply for three hours a day,” he said.
Signatures for the petition letter will be collected from homeowners on Myoh-ma, Yua-ma and Yieh-khah streets.
A similar signature campaign to increase the amount of daily household electricity was done by residents from Matupi in Chin State. They sent a letter to Thein Sein on July 3.
