Four Burmese suspects were arrested in connection with the death of three persons in Mizoram, Northeast India between September 13 and 14.

The bodies of Aung Naing Oo from Aika village and two persons from Ruava Village of Matupi Township, Chin state were found in the river near Mangte village, Lunglei district of Mizoram on September 21.

“The police arrested four suspects after fishing out the bodies. The local authorities found wounds on the bodies. A post mortem revealed that some of the bodies had lost their bodies parts and one had head injures,” said a relative of Aung Naing Oo.

One of the suspects arrested was identified as retired Burmese Army personnel. He was also said to have been involved in a murder case in Burma. The suspects stayed near a sewing work site where the three people lived.

A case has been filed at the local police station by Aung Naing Oo’s wife.

However, the authorities said the bodies could not be identified. The police are not sure whether they were killed or died accidentally because the bodies were decomposed.

The incident occurred during heavy rains and floods in the area and communication by villagers came to a standstill. Khonumthung news
