Regular school lessons are being missed by students of Kalemyo, Sagaing division of Burma, because teachers are not teaching regularly.

“Most of students cannot follow lessons because the teachers do not teach regularly during school hours,” said a local from Kalemyo.

The teachers of Thantapin village of Kalemyo are collecting Kyat 2000 monthly from each student for addition classes for more income from this month.

About 150 students are attending additional classes of the 200 students in the village. Fifty students who could not attend additional classes cannot follow school lessons, said a village elder from Thantapin.

“The primary school headmaster held a meeting with student’s parents and pushed them to send every student to the additional classes. The headmaster limited their additional class fees also, said a parent of a student.

The parents request to limit it to a tin of rice yearly was rejected by the headmaster at the meeting.

The school authorities teach from 7 am to 9 am in the morning and 3 pm to 5 pm in the evening local time, but the teachers do not attend regular classes.

“Students do not have to play,” said a parent. Khonumthung News
