Three Chins died after being struck by lightning in Thantapin village in Tamu township, Sagain Division Burma, on 5 June, a report said.

They were struck by lightning when they were grazing their cows on a pasture at 4 p.m.

They were identified as Salai Thara (14) son of Pisiangi, Salai Ramculloa (16) son of Lianzuala and Salai Teroa (17) son of Rallianzuala.

“It had not rained much on that day but there was lightning and thunder in the afternoon. The lightning struck around 4 p.m. two furlongs from the village,” said Zamte, a local in Thantapin village.

The bodies were sent to Tamu town civil hospital for autopsy. The burial is today.

Meanwhile, many Chin people living in Thantapin village are facing economic crisis and most teenagers cannot attend school. They tend to cows and bulls.

A report said that there are about 30 children, who cannot attend school in Thantapin village.
