The Burmese education department is planning to come with school note books for the academic year 2011-2012 at double the price than that prevailing in the market in Chin state, Burma.
The No (2), education department under the Ministry of Education in Chin state took a decision to sell the school note books at double the price and will make buying it compulsory for student's in Paletwa township, Chin state.
"The current market price of school note books is Kyat 1400 for a dozen. The education department will sell it for Kyat 2200 a dozen for students and make it mandatory for them to buy it, “said a parent in Teddim township.
Similarly, the educational department has been selling school note books and supplementary books for students and making it compulsory for them to buy since last year. Township education officials made available a million note books through the Chin state education officer based in Hakha, the capital of Chin state.
"People will suffer this compulsion this year again," said a local.
The new light of Myanmar newspaper, the junta mouthpiece reported on May 19 that Dr. Myah Aye, the Minister of Education of Burma announced at an educational meeting on May 17 in Naypyidaw, the capital of Burma that funds would be made available for primary students in the whole country.
