Two Chin refugees killed the 30-year old co-worker in Bukit Cheras Alamdamai near Kuala Lumpur.

Peng Thang son of Mang Shwe from Lei Ring village of Matupi Township, Chin state, Burma was allegedly beaten to death by Kui Loep from Lei Sin village and Zaw Ki from Bung Hung Village, Matupi Township said a relative of Peng Thang.

"He (Peng Thang) was alive when I reached the spot after being informed, but he could not speak. He was still breathing. His head was covered with blood and had been smashed, said Peng Thang’s relative.

The two perpetrators of the crime were arrested after the murderous assault by local police for interrogation. It is not clear, however, what triggered the fight, said a source in Malaysia.

The body was brought to UKM private Hospital in Kuala Lumpur for autopsy by police the same day.

It is learnt that Peng Thang was doing odd jobs in Malaysia since 2003 and had recognized refugee status since 2010 from the Malaysian United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Malaysian Chin refugee Committee says on its website that there are approximately 35,000 to 40,000 Chin refugees and asylum seekers in Malaysia.

Similarly, a Chin Bible school student was murdered by a class mate in Tiriwala town, Kerala state of India on April 13. - Khonumthung News
