USDP issues National ID card under poll campaign in Maungdaw

Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Union Solidarity Development Party (USDP) is organizing the Rohingya community in Maungdaw for coming November 7 election to support them with issuing National Identity Card (White card), said a local elder from Maungdaw.

The USDP with Township Immigration officers has been issuing ID card to Rohingya community of Myothugyi ( Kandarpara) village on September 26, the elder said.

USDP and Township Immigration officers issued ID card who had damaged, lost and 18 year old but not getting the ID card.

But, the Township Immigration officers asked 1500 kyats for one card, showing favour the community and other side harassing, said a student from Myothugyi village.

The USDP is using the power of state government for poll campaign where they look the weak point of people which can help for their campaign, the student said.

The USDP toured Maungdaw south and other part before starting campaign where they realized that without giving any things they will not organize the people in Maungdaw. So, the USDP start giving rural area rice than issuing ID card, which rural people most needed, the student more added.

People just come and gather when the USDP and Township Immigration officers issue the ID card which most of the Rohingya community need, after that the people disappear, said a school teacher from Maungdaw.

The USDP candidates also ordered to village authority to organize the people to support them as the USDP is going to cover all over Burma where the USDP will win in November 7 election. If the villager didn’t vote to them, they will transfer all villagers to other part of town and they will dismiss the village authority from their post after election, according to Arakan Review website.
