Teknaf, Bangladesh: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) is distributing plastic in the Nayapara refugee camp since yesterday, said a refugee from the camp.

UNHCR has distributed plastic to those refugee families, whose houses were damaged in the heavy rain and also who did not get new sheds.

During the heavy rain, some refugee sheds were destroyed and the plastic sheets blown-off.

A refugee woman from Nayapara refugee camp said, “It is good for us that we got plastic sheets from UNHCR in the rainy season.”

But, UNHCR has not distributed plastic sheets in the Kutupalong camp, later, they may provide plastic, but it’s not confirmed, sources said.

If UNHCR can provide plastic sheets in the Kutupalong makeshift camp in the rainy season, it will be very good for them. If the unregistered refugees don’t get any help from UNHCR and other NGOs in the monsoon, their situation will deteriorate, said another refugee on condition of anonymity.
