Teknaf, Bangladesh: A high level delegation of three members of the American and Australian embassies visited a Burmese refugee camp, under the Cox’s Bazaar district of Bangladesh, yesterday, said a refugee master named Seraz, from the camp.

Two representatives from the American Embassy and one representative from the Australian Embassy, accompanied by Mr. Shajan, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) visited the Nayapara Burmese refugee camp, at about 11:00 am, yesterday.

At about 12:00 noon, the delegation observed the school No. 3, women’s center store and the sheds of the camp, which have been recently built.  After observing the camp situation, they left from the camp at around 1:00 pm, for their destination.

Security was tightened by the police team, which was provided by the Camp-in-Charge, while the delegation visited the camp.

However, the delegation did not ask the refugees any questions. The refugees would have been happy, if they were able to talk about the situation of the camp, said a refugee leader from the camp on condition of anonymity.
