Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) has seized a huge quantity of different types of medicines from the Bangladesh-Burma border on September 10, while it was being smuggled to Burma, according to sources.

A group of BDR personnel of 42 Battalion operating in the Ali Khali area in Lada under Nilla Union of Teknaf Upzila seized 3,997 ampules of injections, 2,14,900 Ventolin and 8,61,3000 Stemetil tablets and different contraceptives.

Deputy Commander of 42 Rifles Battalion at Teknaf, Major Shahinur Rahman said the value of the drugs recovered has been estimated at around Taka 2 crore.

However, the BDR could not arrest any of the smugglers, during the operation. But, the BDR filed a case at Teknaf police station in this connection.

The operation was led by Captain Mohammed Foiad Khan Shishir of 42 Battalion.
