The Kyaukpru Juma mosque and an Arabic learning center (madrasa) were destroyed by a Rakhine mob, according to an anonymous local source. About 200 men led by U Tin Aung Soe, leader of Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP), allegedly attacked the buildings on Nov. 18.

The mosque and school built in 1954 were the last standing religious buildings in Kyackpru township, Arakan state after all the Kaman Muslim villages in the area were torched by members of the Rakhine Nationalities Development Party (RNDP) during October 2012 violence, claimed the source.

The displaced have fled to Sintamaw village in Pauk Taw Township, state capital Sittwe and internally displaced persons (IDPs) camps in Kyackpru.

The Pike Sake fishing village in Kyauk Phyu township was also attacked in October, 2012 by mobs of Rakhine and Buddhist monks. Over 1000 houses were razed. Most of the affected population has taken shelter in IDPs camps in Sittwe.
