Teknaf, Bangladesh: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) pushed backed 18- Rohingya to Burma on April 22, Kashim, a local from border said.

“They were arrested from the border point of Shahpuri Dip area in Cox’s Bazar district on Monday night by BGB after being conducted operations.”

A BGB team of Shapuri Dip under the Teknaf Battalion No. 42 conducted a drive in border areas and arrested 18 Rohingyas along with 5 children, 3 women and 10 men who came to Bangladesh crossing the border by row boat, according to BGB official.

“BGB pushed back them again to Burma through the same point of Shapuri Dip on Monday morning.”

The Rohingya--an ethnic group of Burma frequently crosses the Burma-Bangladesh border by row boat and on foot, because of persecution and harassments by the concerned authorities of Burma and Rakhines, BGB sources said quoting the refugees.

According to different sources, Rohingyas are trying to cross Burma-Bangladesh border to take shelter in Bangladesh for their lives security.

“The fate of the Rohingyas who had been pushed back to Burma, is not known to their relatives.”
