Female Muslims claim they are facing ongoing sexual harassment by police and Burma security forces (Hluntin and Nasaka) when they re-enter Maungdaw.

One Maungdaw Rohingya alleges male personal are inappropriately touching them during searches conducted at the checkpoint. “The security forces are not using female security personnel.”

At the checkpoints; Shwezar, Myoma Khayoungdan and Nyoungchang bridges, they are charging Rohingyas between 200 to 500 Kyat (US $0.23 – $0.58), even though they already have travel passes, according to an elder who didn’t want their name used. One driver said the security forces are charging between 500-1000  Kyat (US $0.58-$1.16) for each vehicle.
