A corpse was found on the roadside between the Rohingya village Powet Chaung and a Rakhine village in the morning on Nov.1,  said a Rohingya neighbor of the deceased who didn’t want their name used.

“The body was identified as Noor Hashim, 38, son of Hakim Ali,” said the neighbor.

The deceased man was called from his house at about 1 a.m. by someone outside. When Noor Hashim went out to meet them he didn’t return. Currently there is a curfew from 10 pm to 4am. The man was the head of 10 homes for the village administration council, according to his wife.

After the body was discovered the Nasaka (Burma’s security force) came to look at the corpse then it was sent to  Maungdaw General Hospital for postmortem.

Kalandanpress tried to get details regarding the causes of the man’s death from a Nasaka personal, but he wouldn’t comment.
