Teknaf, Bangladesh: Bangladesh Police and Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel arrested several Rohingyas early in the morning on February 7, while they were entering Bangladesh at the border point of Rongikhali, under the jurisdiction of the Teknaf police station, according to an elder from Teknaf.
Thirteen people were arrested and sent to Cox’s Bazar jail by Teknaf police .
The operation was led by Sub-Inspector (SI) Alam, an official said.
The arrested have been identified as Shajeda Beguam, Rabi Akter, Md. Salim, Iliyas, Shah Alam, Ayoub Ali, Abul Hussain, Hamid Hussain, Abdul Hakim, Abdur Rahaman, Abdul Goni, Shah Alam and Abu Siddik. They hail from different areas of Maungdaw Township, Arakan State , Burma .
Police filed a case against them at Teknaf Police Station and sent them to Cox’s Bazar Jail at 11: 00 am the same day.
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) of Nilla BGB-Out-Post also arrested nine Rohingyas on at 7 am on February 7thwhile they were entering the Bangladesh through the entry point at Nilla. They pushed them back across the Burma border at 3: 00 pm, according to a BGB source.
At 1 pm on the same day, BGB arrested 10 Rohingyas riding in different vehicles at the Whykong Check-point, said an officer from the BGB.
The arrested Rohingya are Shafiul Alam (22) son of Hossain Ali, Rahim Ullah (25) son of late Abdul Kuddus, Sabuj Meah (30) son of Karim Ullah, Rafique (27) son of Sadar Ali, Rabi Alam(20) son of Akkas Meah, Mufiz Alam (23) son of Shahed Ali, Monjur Alam (30) son of Abdur Rashid, Muslim Uddin (26) son of Towfiq and Sagar Ahmed (17) son of Mohsen Ali.
They were pushed back into Burma from Lamba Bill around 2 pm.
The Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. Zahid Hossain, of Battalion No 42 and Officer-In-Charge (OC) at Teknaf Police Station confirmed they arrested 32 Rohingyas at different locations. Of those, 13 Rohingyas were sent to jail and another 19 were pushed back by the BGB.
