Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent twelve Rohingyas back to Burma on December 12. The expulsions took place at various Bangladeshi border points, according to a BGB source.
“Nine was arrested at the Dum Dum Meah BGB checkpost while going to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf by bus. Hobildar Mujibur Rahman of the BGB 42 Teknaf Battalion led that operation,” the source said.
The arrested were Mohamed Kamal (26), Arfat (22), Kasim (27), Rofique(19), Abu Ahmed (22), Noor Hussain (20), Esuf (25), Sayed Karim (20), and Eliyas (21). They were deported at the Hazir Khal river point at about 3:00 pm, according to a BGB aide from Teknaf.
The same day, three more Rohingyas were arrested near Shapuri Dip at about 1:00 pm while crossing fat the Gular Para border point. Shabuddin, Shapuri Dip BGB commander, led the force that made the arrests. They also seized a small ferryboat belonging to the Rohingyas who were identified as Mohamed Rofique (22), Sayed Alam (25) and Aman Ullah (28). These men were expelled from Bangladesh at around 3:30 pm, the same way they entered, said another aide of BGB from Shapuri Dip.
