Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) deported eight Rohingyas back to Burma on December 11. They had been arrested at the border, according to a BGB source.

“The BGB arrested them while they were going to Cox’s Bazar from Teknaf by bus. Among those arrested were three women, three children and two men.”

Serazul Islam, the company commander of BGB 42 Battalion of Teknaf, made the arrests.

However, after interrogations lasting until  3:00 pm, the Rohingyas were pushed back into Burma, said a local elder from Zadi Mora.

Lt. Col Zahid Hassan, the Teknaf BGB 42-Battalion commander told local journalists to be aware of the infiltration of Rohingyas, said one local journalist.

Recently, the BGB personnel have increased the number of arrests and have expelled more Rohingya people to Burma.

Daily, Rohingyas from northern Arakan cross the Burma-Bangladeshi border although there is new civilian led government in Naypyitaw. Although, some things have been changed in Burma, nothing haschanged in north Arakan, said a local elder from Maungdaw who denied to be named.
