Maungdaw, Arakan State: Burmese border security force (Nasaka) had severely tortured four village sentry men yesterday night, while they were giving sentry duty at the village sentry post without any provoking or any fault, said one of the sentry men preferring not to be named.

“The four sentry men were identified as Khalu (75), son of Yasein, Nazir Ahmed ( 45), son of Ali Akbar, Nurul Islam (15), son of Rashid Ahmed, and sultan (50), son of Fazar Ali. They all belong to Nari Bill west village of Maungdaw Township.”

The Nasaka patrol personnel had alleged the sentry men why stopped the security personnel when they reached the post, if not halted, they also alleged. It is not necessary for Nasaka that the sentry men give halt or not, the security personnel any means find fault against the sentry men, the sentry man more added.

After allegation, all the sentry men were severely beaten by the  Nasaka personnel. Some of them were very serious and taking treatment from local quack doctor, said a local youth.

The sentry men are poor local villagers and their family members will be starved if the family head does not able to do work on daily basis.

“What is the false of the sentry men?  Why does the Nasaka treat them as animal? They are able to do what they like because they have the arms and power,” said a local elder.
