Teknaf, Bangladesh: Burma’s border security force (Nasaka) abducted eleven fishermen from different fishing row boats at Naff River on October 5, said a local fisherman from Teknaf.

“They were abducted by Nasaka personnel at 5:00 pm while they were fishing in the Bangladesh territory. They went to Naff River for fishing in the morning.”

Nasaka personnel paid a tour in the Naff River by an engine boat and conducted operation.

After abducting, they were brought to Burma side and detained for three hours and demanded money for release by Nasaka personnel, an arrested fisherman said.

However, the abducted fishermen were released by Nasaka personnel at 8:00 pm with understanding.

The arrested have been identified as Jafar, Ismail, Abdul Amin, Fokir, Nuru, Boshar, Mohamed, Jamal, Hamid and Abdul of Teknaf union.

Every year, Nasaka personnel abduct fishermen from Naff while fishing, said Boshar.
