Maungdaw, Arakan State: More than fifteen young students had called for interrogation after wearing white T shirt on September 3, said a student from Maungdaw.

“More than fifteen young students age 15 year had dressed white T shirt which marked on back “Motherland” on September 3 and round the town as it is Eid holiday.”

“All the young students are from Maungdaw High school and some are waiting for university admission.”

“The young students made fashion in their Eid holiday with their friends, dressed white T shirt which marked on back “Motherland” and round the town and going around their friends’ house,” said Anwer, a young man from Maungdaw.

“But, on September 3, San Tin, the police surveillance officer called all the young students to the Maungdaw police station for questioning and released after an hour.”

“The police officer had taken a T shirt from Younous, a student near the clock tower junction on September 3, evening and didn’t return it back to Younous.”

“May be authority didn’t want to dress like this in the public place among the Arakanese Rohingya young students, so the police warned the students not to do in the future.  This is just fashion, what the young people do in their festival. Why police warned the students not to dress like this?,” said a trader from Maungdaw who didn’t want to be named.

“The young students are always going on the street in the evening with their friends, but we are not seeing those since four days but, a few of them are going on the road.”
