Maungdaw, Arakan State: One Natala villager chopped to death one Rohingya villager and wounded another one in Maungdaw Township on September 2, on previous enmity, said a relative of the victim on condition of anonymity.

The dead body was identified as Bulu (32), son of Mini, and the wounded one is Kala Meah (30). They belong to Kulone (Thin Baw Kwe) village of Maungadw south. Both are Nasaka collaborators.

The Natala villagers were brought to north Arakan from Burma proper to settle in Arakan to antagonize the local Rohingya villagers and to dominate Rohingya population.

Kyaw Khine, the Natala villager settled in Kulone and also a Nasaka collaborator quarreled with Bulu for sheltering Pasan Begum, 40, nearby Natala village and living together since last month. Kyaw Khine also built a house for her. Bulu gave warning to Kyaw Khine to stop his performance in the village which made them more enmity, said a close friend of the victim.

“Kyaw Khine sent a false massage to Bulu by a Rohingya villager that Nasaka personnel wanted him for important information on September 2, at about 9:00pm. Thinking that he was really called by the Nasaka personnel, so immediately went out from the village accompanied by another Naska collaborator Kala Meah to meet the Nasaka personnel. But, they saw only Kyaw Khine instead of Nasaka, without realizing the previous enmity with him. When they were going to the Nasaka camp, suddenly Kyaw Khine stabbed Bulu in the back with a long knife and Kala Meah ran away from the scene with injury after Kyaw Khine also stabbed him while Kala Meah Meah became unconscious seeing the pouring blood from Bulu’s body on the ground.”

Kyaw Khine put a letter on the dead body which said thta Nasaka collaborators killed Bulu, after Bulu was chopped to death, said a local youth.

On information, a group of Nasaka personnel came to the spot from the local Nasaka out post camp and the dead body was brought to the Nasaka camp. Later, the dead body was handed over to the police and sent it to postmortem in Maungdaw hospital. After that, relatives received the dead body and buried to his local graveyard on September 3.

Later, Kala Meah was brought to the Nasaka camp where he got medical treatment. He is still in the camp for integrations. But, the culprit is not arrested by the authority so far. But, the Nasaka has been trying to implicate eight-Arabic student from a local Madrasa who are under the age of 12 to 15. The students are fleeing from their homes for fear of arrest and torture by the Nasaka to extort money, said a school teacher.

There is a proverb in Rohingya community that “crow eats jackfruit, but stick or gum is found behind the anus of heron.” It means that the perpetrator is Natala villager, but implicated to Rohingya students,” said a Rohingya leader from Maungdaw.
