Teknaf, Bangladesh: Two Rohingya fishermen have been missing in Naff River since August 31, after capsizing fishing boat accidentally while they were fishing in the river, said a close relative of the fishermen who denied to be named.

The missing fishermen were identified as Sultan (35), and Abdullah (45), hailed from Boroi Toli village of Teknaf union. They are living there after crossing Burma-Bangladesh border and support their family members by fishing in the Naff River.

Sultan and Addullah with two Bangladeshi; Abdul Munaf (50) and Dawlu Meah (40) went to Naff River for fishing with a fishing boat on August 31,at about 11:00am (after Edul-Fitr Eid Festival pray).

The fishing boat was turned over (capsized) suddenly by the strong winds in the Naff River, but one of them named Dawlu Meah  reached to the bank after swimming and the rest three fishermen were missing.

The dead body of Abdu Munaf was recovered from the river while floating nearby riverbank on September 3, morning, but the other two fishermen are still missing, according to Zahid, a local villager from Boroi Toli.

A close relative of Sultan Said, “All the Muslims are enjoying Eid festival, but the two Rohingya fishermen had gone to fishing to the Naff river, in the hope of buying rice and necessary things for their families members after selling fish to the market, but their hope never come true, they had gone forever.”
