Maungdaw, Arakan State: Border security force (Nasaka) is looting money from Rohingya villagers in Maungdaw Township by giving false and fabricated accusations against them, said a local business man who denied to be named.
“Nasaka personnel from Nasaka area No. 6, arrested Nabi Hussain (45), son of Sultan Ahmed, hailed from Nari Bill east village of Maungdaw township on suspicion of that he had a mobile set of Bangladesh, on September 2.”
“However, he was released on that day after paying Kyat 250,000 to the authority.”
“Rohingya will be tortured continuously until to death if authority didn’t get the money. Rohingya people, who are arrested by the authority, will try to be released after paying money as they know that the authorities are killing recently for money, with this advantage, the authority makes arbitrary arrests the Rohingya people to get money”, said an elder from Maungdaw.
“If the authority is sincere, they will file cases against the arrestees and will hand over to the police. After proper inquiry, they will be punished or jailed, if they have been found fault. It is the real process.”
“Why did the authority arrest villagers without getting any document from the arrestees? On suspicion, the authority makes arbitrary arrests and squeeze for money, which is unbearable for the local people. How long, the Rohingya people will stay in Arakan by paying money?”
“At last, they will flee to neighboring countries such as Bangladesh, Thailand and Malaysia for arrest or extortion.”
Similarly, Nasaka personnel arrested two students aged 16 and 17 with allegation of Yaba tablets smuggling while the Nasaka had seen their teacher was in the absence. The two students are studying in a coaching center of Ibrahim. Ibrahim is a local private teacher who gave coaching in the local villages, said a trader from the locality.
Ibrahim (35), son of Moulvi Mohamed Hussain, hailed from Dora bill village of Nasaka area No.6 of Maungdaw Township. The students are also from the same village.
However, today, the parents of the two arrestees (students) went to the Nasaka camp and made release to their sons after paying Kyat six million. It is a big amount, I have no knowledge, how did they manage this money, said a close relative one of the arrestees.
