Nasaka shoot Rohingya youth for a quid of betel

Maungdaw, Arakan State: A Rohingya youth was shot dead by the Naska personnel for asking the cost of a quid of betel yesterday night at about 8:00pm, according to a member of Village administration office.

“Nasaer, 18, son of Nurul Amin, hails from Dawlaya para under Shweza village tract, is the Rohingya youth who is studying in Maungdaw High School.”

Nasaer was sitting his father’s betel shop in the village where Nasaka personnel was come to his shop and asked for a quid of betel. After delivered the quid of betel, Nasaer asked for the cost of quid of betel, said an eyewitness, who was sitting in the betel shop.

“Nasaer and the Nasaka become argument when the Nasaka was refused to pay the cost of quid of betel and Nasaer was shot dead during the argument.”

Nasaer was dead on the spot and the local villagers were runway near the betel shop, but the family member of Nasaer rushed to the spot, but, the Nasaka personnel did not allow to take the dead body and kept the dead body in their outpost camp, said an elder from the village.

“The dead body was sent to the Maungdaw General hospital by Nasaka personnel from outpost later and nobody was allowed to see the dead body at hospital until today noon.”

“The Nasaka personnel were scouting the hospital whole night.”
 
“The family members with villagers and village administration officers went to the police station to complain and file the case for justice. The family members and villagers also complained to all concerned authorities offices, but no action was taken immediately.”

The Nasaka director arrived today morning at Shweza village tract where he had spoken with family members and village administration officers and handed over the dead body of Nasaer to his family with 500,000 kyats as blood money at noon, said a family member who did not wish to mention his name.

“The dead body was carried with three-wheeler taxi to his village from the hospital.”

Similarly, on August 30, Nasaka had beaten brutally Abdul Matalof,60, an old men who severed as a sentry in Shweza, was dead today morning at 10:00am, said a school teacher from Shweza village.

“In Arakan state, we, Rohingya are like animal whenever the authorities wish to hunt, they can shoot anytime, and nobody can stop them.”
