Teknaf, Bangladesh: Bangladeshi goods are smuggled to Burma through the different points of Bangladesh-Burma border by smugglers recently, said a local trader from Teknaf.

The smugglers most smuggled vermicelli, sugar, oil and etc recently for coming Muslim Eid festival to get more profit and people demand.

“A group of syndicate live along the border are smuggled the goods.”

According to sources, they (smugglers) smuggle goods at midnight without knowledge of concerned authorities.

But, now, some smugglers have carried goods with understanding of Burma’s border security force (Nasaka), said another trader on condition of anonymity.

“Mostly goods are smuggled through the illegal points of Balu Khali, Tombro, Kumir Khali, Ziyan Khali and etc where the Nasaka has given priority to carriers.”

At present, the concerned authorities Bangladesh are trying to stop smuggling goods which has increased day by day, official said.
