Teknaf, Bangladesh: The Border Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three Bangladeshi drug traffickers with a large number of Yaba (methamphetamine) tablets at the Naff River following a raid on April 15, said a local trader.

After being tipped off, the BGB rushed to the spot and seized 13,373 Yaba tablets from a fishing boat that was entering Bangladesh from Burma.

The BGB also found two mobile phones from the men in the boat.

Lt. Col. Zahid Hassan, the 42 BGB Battalion Commander of Teknaf, confirmed that the operation was successful in leading to the seizure of Yaba tablets.

The arrested traffickers have been identified as Mohamed Zubair (20), Mohamed Ismail (20), and Habibur Rahaman (18), all of Teknaf Union under Cox’s Bazaar District.

The operation was led by company officer Mohamed Jawz Meah, according to an official from BGB 42.

The three traffickers have been handed over to the Teknaf Police Station for further investigation, sources said.

A police officer from Teknaf Police Station said, “They are being detained and going to interrogation in police custody.”

Many Yaba tablets and other foreign drugs come to Bangladesh from Burma by way of drug traffickers who live along the Bangladesh-Burma border.
