Thuta Linn — The chairman of the Kachin State Democracy Party (KSDP), Dr Tu Ja, has submitted a request to meet the National League for Democracy (NLD) leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
In the letter dated November 16th, the KSDP’s chairman congratulated the NLD for their recent electoral victory. The KSDP chairman, a former senior figure in the Kachin Independence Organization (KIO), requested to meet Aung San Suu Kyi to discuss issues relating to Kachin state and ethnic affairs.
Dr Tu Ja told the BNI Newsroom that the NLD has yet to respond to his request.
“They are probably busy with issues related to forming a new government. I’m not in a rush to meet them,” Dr Tu Ja said.
He explained that that he has made the request in order to help facilitate ethnic affairs in Kachin state. He wants to assist with the selection of the Kachin State Chief Minister. The KSDP won four seats in Kachin state during the recent election.
