Candidates from across Chin state including those contesting constituencies in Hakha, Tiddim, Matupi, Kanpetlet, and Mindat townships took part in the information session. A number of assistants working for the candidate also took part. Those participating candidates and other party officials who attended represented the National League for Democracy (NLD), the Chin National Democratic Party (CNDP), the Chin League for Democracy (CLD) and the Ethnic National Development Party (ENDP).

“Not as many people as expected came due to transportation difficulties. You can say there is a lack of participation” said Daw Sui Sung, an Upper House candidate from the CLD, who is running in Hakha Township Constituency No 1.

The information session covered a wide range of topics including the Union Election Commission (UEC) and its management. Other topics covered included information about voter education and the voter list, advance voting and counting ballots.

According to government figures Chin state has 273,673 registered voters. There will be 210 candidates vying for 39 constituencies on voting day in Chin state.
