“It didn’t happen in other townships and the bombs went off in Tiddim Township. Even though this has happened, I don’t think it will pose a threat to the upcoming election. Also, we are discussing with the township administration and the police about having more security other than the special police officers,” said .
The bomb blasts took place at 11:15 pm on Monday and only some equipment has been damaged.

“It’s difficult to say who did it and why it was done. We don’t have any night guards at the office. Two bombs went off one after another at 11:15 pm last night [Monday night]. The perpetrator put the bombs in two places. A hole was drilled in the wall from the outside and gun powder was placed there so it went inside with the blasts. Only some equipment has been damaged. It was a type of handmade bomb,” said U Marn Noe, CNF liaison officer for Tiddim Township.

Since its opening, some local residents have objected to the opening of the liaison office in Tiddim. When the Chin World contacted the Chin State Police Force to inquire about the bomb blasts, an officer-in-charge said: “No one has been injured. We are still investigating the incident so we don’t know the details yet,” the officer said.

The CNF’s liaison office was opened on September 25, 2012. An earlier bomb went off at the liaison office at 8:30 pm on March 27, 2014.
The CNF has opened liaison offices in Tiddim, Htantalan, and Matupi townships in Chin State.

Zomi Congress for Democracy’s chairman Pu Cin Sian Thang will run as the oldest candidate for the Lower House seat from Tiddim Township in the upcoming election. The Chin League for Democracy, the Chin National Progressive Party, the Chin National Democratic Party, the National Unity Party, the Union Solidarity and Development Party, and the National League for Democracy will also run in Tiddim Township. The township has also two seats in the Upper House.
