Aik Sai — Advanced voting commenced in the Mon State’s Ye Township on October 29, yet as of November 2 only nine people have given advanced votes.

“Only nine people came to give advanced votes between October 29 and November 2 according to the list that came from the ward/village commissions. We don’t know about the rest, but this is the current list,” said an official from Ye Township Election Sub-Commission’s office.

According to the latest voter list released in September, there are over 150,000 eligible voters in Ye Township and over 2,500 migrant workers have been allowed to vote after they submitted their applications with Form 3A.

A total of 110 polling stations will be opened in 30 village tracts in Ye Township, meaning that each polling station will be required to accommodate approximately 1,300 voters.

Although voting tickets have been issued in respective election sub-commission’ offices on a nationwide scale since November 1, nobody has come to take them out yet in Ye Township.
