Salai Kyaw Moe Tun — The National League for Democracy (NLD) has won all four seats in Mindat Township Constituency, including Chin State Chief Minister; a position that U Hong Ngai from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) has held since the last election in 2010.

The NLD received 7950 votes for the Upper House seat versus 5740 votes picked up by ruling USDP. They received 8260 votes for the Lower House seat in Mindat while the USDP finished with 5502 votes.

In Mindat Township’s State Parliament Constituency 2, where U Hong Ngai ran, the NLD won with 3,870 votes and USDP received 3,478 votes.

In Mindat Township State Parliament Constituency 1 the NLD got 3,445 against the 2,660 votes USDP received.

Mindat Township has over 24,000 eligible voters in 194 villages, including Mindat town which has four wards. In the whole of Chin State where there are 273,673 eligible voters, a total of 202 candidates from 13 political parties, including 7 independent candidates, contested seats.
